The injustice in health care free essay sample

Question: â€Å"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane† (Martin Luther King, Jr.). Do you agree with this statement? Write an essay persuading readers of your point of view. Support your argument with evidence from appropriate sources. Nick Vujicic, the founder of Life Without Limbs Organization of Australia, said in his speech,† Attitude is Altitude.†(Nick Vujicic 2012). The implication is that one individual or even one institution is required to hold a correct and positive attitude towards health care and what is being embarked on or what it will be. This thereby leads to a goal of health and assures a promising future as expected. This clearly explains there shouldn’t be any injustice in health care since people have the same right to healthcare. However, the real situation is contrary, which I mean the Social inequalities in health status have expanded in recent years (Johan P. We will write a custom essay sample on The injustice in health care or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Mackenbach et al. 2008). As a result, the injustice in health care has caused lots of problems; for example, rich people can get a perfect medical treatment while some poor people don’t have enough money to afford health care, they even just choose to wait for death. According to these reasons, wealth inequality and healthcare inequality are not separable. There are also some other different types of inequality such as educational inequality and the inequality of rights for men and women. As for educational inequality, Rousseau—a famous French thinker has said that education is a great tool to realize social justice and if education is fair, the society will be equal. However, because of so many reasons, this dream hasn’t been true. For example, the regional and urban-rural gap can cause the unfair education (Binh T. Nguyen et al.2007). In addition to that, some students’ family income is too low to  afford their education (Ellen Brantlinger 1985). Both of these two reasons can influence the equality of education. However to compare with the injustice in health care, the inequality in education is not so serious since the injustice in health care has a connection with people’s life; it can even be one of the most important reasons to explain the injustice in health care. According to the WHO definition of health, it is not only the absence of disease, but also includes complete physical, psychological and social adaption ability (Definitions Of Health/Wellness 1948). Personal health status can be a point in a 3D space as physiological, psychological and social composition (A Second Life for eHealth: Prospects for the Use of 3-D Virtual Worlds in Clinical Psychology 2008). The health inequality refers to the diverse health system between the different social economic status of individuals or groups, such as the scholars think that the poor, minorities, women will encounter more health risk and disease inequality that other social groups by the society. In conclusion, the health inequality is the most inhumane form of social inequality. Similarly, the inequality of rights for men and women can also cause some problem. For instance, for thousands of years, because of the discrimination against women, women were ignored by Chinese history; men rule the world while women could not do anything. Moreover, the history of discrimination against women forced them to live in the social environment where there has inequality between men and women. That obstructs female to success. Fortunately, in recent years, this situation has become better since the condition that family and school just focus on men has relieved. Conversely, the injustice in health care cannot be so easy to figure out. According to the research, the health care is connected with the education level and the level of income (Johan P. Mackenbach et al. 2008). As for health care, the data researcher collected can show that in the Europe, the people who have gotten less education can have lower life expectancy (Johan P. Mackenbach et al. 2008). It is clearly that if we want to figure out the injustice in health care, we have to solve the education problems. Additionally, the inequality between men and women can also influence the health care to be unfair. By that I mean in the past years, the family and the Chinese government thought highly of men; consequently, they could enjoy better medical assistance while the women could not (Chinese Women 2004). Obviously, it caused an  inequality situation in health care. Therefore, the progress to figure out the injustice in health care will be much arduous than any other inequality solution since we have to solve the caused problems first. Even though, there has too much injustice in health care, the Chinese government has laid down some health care systems. For instance, there has a health care system which is called Public Medical Care. A villager who is at the age of sixty-eight has said: In the past, I had to see village doctors and pay all the medical fees if I got ill. But now both the county and the village have new clinics with expenses partially covered by the government. Its a good thing indeed.(Chinas medical care system leaps forward 2011). According to this people’s statement, we can know that the injustice is health care has been focused on more by the Chinese government. Fundamentally, this kind of health care system includes 1.26 billion inhabitants, and almost 90 percent of populace helps the country to improve the medical services (Chinas medical care system leaps forward 2011). Moreover, there also has a health care system in America which is called Medicare; it also has Mefigap policies to help it work. Before this health care system set up, most of American workers can have their individual medical service that can make it easier for them to see the doctors; however, this system has changed this situation. It allows people to explore the medical services if they need help. In addition to that, this policy also includes Health Maintenance Organizations which can reduce the prime cost (Ben Irvine 2002). Although there have health care system such as Public Medical Care to improve the injustice in health care, this situation is still severe. If we don’t pay attention to that, it will become more dangerous than present. Because it connects with people’s health, it involves the life of the whole word people. Additionally, if the government or the world causes the inequality health, they have no responsibility for all people or they don’t put a correct attitude towards equality health. Everyone in the world has the same right to receive the same medical services. There shouldn’t have any differences in different countries or people. In regards to health, all people are equal to each other.

The Governments Taking of Private Property

The Governments Taking of Private Property The Constitution of the United States is based primarily on the ideas of the 17th Century English philosopher John Locke. Locke thought that everyone had natural rights, which included life, liberty, and property. Locke stated the great and chief end, therefore, of mens uniting into commonwealths, and putting themselves under government, is the preservation of property (Locke/ McClaughry 3). He thought that if any of these rights were violated that the violator should make restitution. The Takings Clause in the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution states Nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. When the government needs a citizens private property to build roads or buildings, they compensate the person with money roughly equal to the value of that persons land. The problem of the government taking or restricting a citizens land arises with regulation of private property. John McClaughry defines regulatory taking as a governmental confiscation or destruction of economic rights by regulation, without the physical occupation which would trigger just compensation to the owner (McClaughry 7). The case of Lucas v. South Carolina Coastal Council is an example of regulatory taking. In the case of Lucas v. South Carolina Coastal Council, Lucas bought two adjacent lots on the coast of the Isle of Palms in South Carolina, only to have the land restricted by the state, which prevented his intended use of the lots. Lucas argued that the states restriction of the land constituted taking without just compensation. The South Carolina Court of Common Pleas agreed with Lucas and awarded him $1,232,387.50. The Supreme Court of South Carolina disagreed with the lower court, and saying that the restrictions were designed to prevent serious public harm so no compensation was ...

Companies Monitoring Employees Computer Usage Essay

Companies Monitoring Employees Computer Usage - Essay Example ncidences of employees misusing company time surfing the internet, action plans have been introduced in many organizations to help identify employees involved in such activities. For instance, some sniffers on computer usage can show all the key strokes a person has made on a company computer. This can act as the basis for firing employees found to have a habit of misusing company time surfing the internet. Other than reasons pertaining to productivity, there are also other reasons why organizations monitor and control internet usage. A good example includes legal liabilities that may arise due to misuse of technology (Anandarajan and Simmers 144). Drug War and Mexican Economy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Drug War and Mexican Economy - Essay Example The economy has had its times of rising and hard times as well. During the period of 1940 to 1960, various measures were put in place by the Mexican government to reduce the inflation rate and promote its growth. Such measures were both fiscal and monetary policies, as well as import substitution. This saw the economy rise but the effect was not to last long since in 1970; the populists abandoned these strategies for increased consumer subsidies and facilitated state ownership of public entities. This was together with uncontrolled state spending and over reliance on oil revenue thus raising the levels of inflation in the economy of Mexico. In the period between 1980 to 1990 several measures to prevent the increasing inflation rate and excessive borrowing were put in place, which included privatization of state owned companies, reduction of tariff and non tariff trade barriers among others (Library of congress, 20). This was crowned by the signing of the North America free trade agre ement in 1994. During this period, the gross domestic product was about 2.6% in contrast to the period 1983 to 1988, which was 0.1%. This trend has continued ever since set for the year 2001 when there was recession in the United States, which automatically affected the economy of Mexico negatively. ... The war against drugs use and the cartels for its trade has been a major challenge in Mexico for quite some time in the past and it is still ongoing. Several efforts have been put in place to eliminate the drug cartels operating within the country, some which have succeeded while others have not seeing that the drug cartels are still operating within the country and beyond. Some contributing factors for its thriving in Mexico are the availability of ready market for the drugs especially in the United States (Shirk, 6). Further, the availability of weaponry by the operators of these cartels has further boosted this illegal trade since they help offer security to the drugs while in transit and even to the people transporting them. The weapons are also used to eliminate anybody who tries to prevent the drug trade from taking place hence accounting for the numerous violent cases related to drugs. The major suppliers of the arms are from the United States and this therefore requires that the United States have to play a major role in the war against drugs in Mexico if at all the war against the drugs will be won. The effect of drug wars on the economy of Mexico Apparently, there is a great relationship between the economy of Mexico and the existing drug cartels in the country. The drug wars in Mexico affect the economy negatively in various ways, one of the major effect being the loss of foreign currency due to the reduced activity in the tourism industry (Schneider, Para 4). Due to the Mexican government’s rising attacks on the drug cartels in a bid to eliminate them in the country, the drug cartels that do not follow the rule of law are fighting back now more than ever especially with the increased supply of

More specifically, consumer behavior is defined as the study of individuals, organizations or groups and processes they use to select, use, secure and dispose of products, services, ideas or experience to satisfy needs and impacts these processes have on society and consumers. Study of consumer behavior is very useful for organizations with its extensive applications. The most obvious use of consumer behavior is marketing strategy. When organizations have clear understanding of behavior of consumer about the product or service, they are in better position to develop and run an effective marketing campaign. For instance, by understanding that consumers are friendly towards food advertising when they are hungry we are more likely to schedule snack advertisement late in the afternoon. Consumer behavior also has its application social marketing which includes the ideas across to consumer rather than selling something. The Impact of the Digital Revolution in Marketing and Consumer Behavior: Advancements of technology have affected all the fields of life and so as the business world. Technological revolution is characterized with inventions such as internet, cell phone, global positioning system (GPS devices), notebook or laptop etc. many amazing. These changes have changed our lives to great extent. Now every human is connected with each other due to digital revolution. Communication technology has made it possible to share information quickly and easily. Information technology has also increased the ratio of communication and involved people from everywhere in the world. Digital revolution has provided new and fresh ideas to its users that are so common to use presently. Like all other aspects of life, technology has given a superb impact on consumer behavior and as well as on marketing. Technology has changed the ways to market the product to the target audience and consumers, more emphasis on market side is on how to execute and implement the marketing strategy. Inte rnet is critical mean, used by contemporary organizations to promote their products and services. Now companies are going for social media marketing and promoting their products via social networking websites such as face-book, twitter, word press, BlogSpot and liked in etc. Whereas in past companies were using traditional means of promotion and advertisements e.g. news paper, radio and televisions. But now, internet provides more innovative, quick and fast way to implement promotion strategy. Internet and social media networking websites provides effective and free of cost media to encompass the target audience. Selling methods have also been changed with digital revolution. GPS devices, notebook, laptop and cell phones bring information through users of those technologies faster. Due to fast and easy access to information, people are more aware and try to get latest information when making a purchase decision. Digital revolution has given emergence to relationship marketing (with focus on customer), industrial or business marketing (with organizational focus) and social marketing (with focus on benefits to society) and most importantly to internet marketing. Online Consumer Segmentation: Companies must recognize that cherished knowledge of target market facilitating customer segmentation provides basic information that is necessary to maximize the returns on practices of internet marketing and increase its effectiveness and efficiency. Consumer information is qualifying information that is applied by internet marketers; it also clarifies and help to connect the promotional content with specific segments of consumers. This process is carried out with aim to match the attributes of products with needs of potential online consumers and these customers are more likely to benefit from specific promotional offers of company. In this case, it must be recognized that whole population that have access to the internet can be potential customers. But from this population, only a certain portion of online population represent the potential customer of the product or service being promoted by the company. Process of online segmentation of consumers, is consistent with traditional approach of market segmentation. Internet marketers observe the consumer behavior toward the formulation of promotional content and apply the results of observations in segmenting the online consumers. It is designed to forecast behavior of consumer relative to what is already known about current and prospective consumers. The prognostic value of consumer segmentation is obvious as content of promotional strategy and it is aligned with subset of consumers. Consumer Motivation and High Technology Products: Technology has changed the business practices to great extent. Modern technologies are time saving and require less efforts by humans as well as it simplifies information access and bring people from different places together. Now, high technology gadgets are essential part of human life. Business executives forecast that sales and profits of future are expected to come from high technology products. (Asp, 1999 ). Consumer behavior in the contemporary world is more neutral toward technology. However, there is no single agreement on what is high technology means, actual business practices and competitive strategy theories recognize explicitly that there are important attributes such as rapidly changing life cycles, intensity of information and turbulence that distinguish high technology from the traditional market in psychological factors (Hirunyawipada Paswan, 2006), most important one is motivation of customers as behavior comes from motivation. But actually, consumer needs are not that specific which exist potentially. So the aim of promotional and advertising activities is to satisfy the customer demands and motivate them to buy the products or services even for those which consumers do not need actually. High technology products can prove to be very crucial factor in consumer motivation. Cultural Factors affecting Consumer Behavior: In simpler definition, culture is all about the values of an individual. Culture decides about the behavior of consumers. Cultural factors also influence the individualà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s buying behavior. All individuals hold different sets of beliefs, habits, and principals that are developed by him or her from his family status and background. Within each culture, there are some subcultures such as gender, religion, geographical location and status etc. companies must know specific cultural attributes and how they affect the buying behavior of the consumers. Marketers believe that consumers have similar cultural attributes or having same culture show similar buying behavior. Every country has its distinct and different culture so while going for international marketing, companies must overcome the cultural and economic boundaries. In order to run a successful marketing campaign on domestic and internal level, different presences, attitudes, beliefs and habits of cus tomer in the target market. Beliefs are important element of culture and can show similarities between the people in a community. Understating the cultural properties of target consumers is critical for analysis of consumer buying behavior and play important role in the process of market segmentation, product positioning and target market. Demographics have great impact of thinking and buying behavior of consumers. Age is one of the important elements that affect the consumerà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s behavior in the market place. Consumerà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s decision making style is a mental orientation that is characterized by approach of consumer to make choices. Adult consumers are hard to handle for marketers as they are living in technological advanced world, like innovative and latest products. Attracting and retaining adult consumers is a challenge for marketers, they must be aware and have enough knowledge of advanced technologies and applications that are part of daily life or adults consumers of modern era, in order to reach that specific segment of the market (Olshavsky Granbois, 1979). This market segment may boast considerable purchasing power. This segment is noticed widely due to its perc eived importance. Home buying decisions of this segment are fairly noticeable and they are recognized as trend setters which influence consumption patterns in the other segments of market as well (Olshavsky Granbois, 1979)Buying decisions of adult consumers are influenced by critical reference groups such as friends. It is observed in many researches that impact of promotional activities on loyalty of adult consumer is insignificant. Instead brand loyalty can be enhanced by improving products ad past utilization, convenience and expectations do not affect the loyalty significantly. Disastrous Date Essay

Three years ago my good friend set me up on a blind date, but before going on the date I wanted to get to know my potential date. After talking to him for a couple of weeks and getting to know him we finally decided to have our first date. He was a gentleman he came to the airport to pick me up, opened the door and was polite. Our conversation in the car had no awkward moments of silence as we headed to our restaurant. The restaurant was his pick which was a surprise to me since it was Ruth’s Chris Steak house. We ordered appetizer’s and drinks to start off the date, we talked and laughed over dinner and shared some embarrassing moments over dessert. In my mind I thought is this night too good to be true. We spent over three hours talking and laughing as the night came to an end the waitress brought our check. This is where it gets interesting. As he’s frantically checking his pockets for his wallet in my mind I’m thinking he’s joking with me he did have a sense of humor over dinner. Don’t get me wrong I don’t ever mind paying for dinner, but on a first date â€Å"forgetting your wallet† might be pushing it especially when you’re having dinner at a steak house. At the end I ended up paying for our dinner which wasn’t cheap, we headed out and drove back to his hotel and it turned out his wallet was left behind now I don’t know if it was intentionally left behind, but it was defiantly at the hotel. We freshened up and headed out again to continue our night. Till this day my husband and I laugh at my first disastrous date and what’s even funnier is that my husband is the guy who â€Å"forgot his wallet.† So my bad experience actually ended up turning into a good one.
